Established in 2008, Silene acts as a Private Student Organisation (PSO) within the larger Stellenbosch community. Our members are majority female and female-identifying students who commute or live in private accommodation. The community is dedicated to creating an environment wherein its members strive to become well rounded, value-driven, and active citizens. Our mission is to mold members into thought leaders who bring inspiration and innovation to all aspects of their lives and the lives of those around them.

We pride ourselves as a warm and welcoming space for our members during their transitional period into university life, as well as the tight-knit community they form a part of throughout their time at Stellenbosch University. Silene PSO aims to ensure the inclusion and consideration of all our new and senior members so that they may flourish both socially and academically.

OUR MISSION FOR 2024

Our mission  for the 2022/23 leadership term is to hold events that enables our members to engage in their passions, and that actively and vocally celebrates our members. To create a platform for open communication and feedback from our members, beginning with community conversations.
