Welcoming 2023

WELCOMING 2024

How it works…

Welcoming, also known as Orientation week (O-Week), is a two week long period where students are introduced to Stellenbosch University, its surrounds and other students also studying at the institution. Silene plays a unique role in this experience as we aim to guide our newcomers through the twists and turns of university life.

Welcoming will be taking place over 12 days this year and below you will find the schedule that Silene has set out to follow in 2024. The programme is set out to promote and purport our values with every step and allow you, as a future graduate, to make use of every opportunity that SU and we can provide you with. You will find that there is ample academic time to ensure that you are also academically integrated within your faculty.

The schedule is filled with fun and laughter, as well as bonding and critical thinking. Your future is in your hands and it starts here!

Transport During Welcoming

During the welcoming period, there will be shuttles available to you. These shuttles are there to drop off students in surrounding areas such as Bellville, Kraaifontein, Athlone, Mitchells Plain, Somerset West, Strand, Paarl, Wellington and surrounding areas in Stellenbosch. These shuttles need to be booked daily berfore 10:30am, you will be given the correct links necessary for this in due time. Two time slots are available for drop off, 19:00 and 21:00 daily. The meeting points and other information will be communicated to you.
