What I would like to achieve in my Term:

Active community members:

To be at Stellenbosch University is a unique opportunity and a great privilege. Stellenbosch is not just a university; we are a community that offers many opportunities to learn and grow. Therefore I want  to encourage every Silene lady  be an active member, not only in Silene but also the rest of community: seize new opportunities, because now is your chance to discover a new world, new friends and new possibilities.

Sisterhood:

The student life of private resident students who are not part of the immediate social network that residences offer, can quickly become overwhelming and lonely and longing back home to make the times even  more difficult. Therefore my focus for 2015  is to advance sisterhood in our home under our ladies.

I would like to see  that all our new ladies feel that although they may be far away from home, that they still have an older sister and second family who will support them throughout their entire student life … through the tough academic times the emotional struggles, for advice, an emergency number to call on, even just  for  a cup coffee and company

I know from personal experience that I would not be where  I am today without the sisterhood and support I get from my fellow ladies. I went from a lost and insecure student who sometimes just wanted to go home, until I decided to step out of my comfort zone and became more actively involved in the wonderful opportunities and activities that the PSO offers. The result is that I am now in my last year at Stellenbosch University as a mature young lady with a lot of confidence Iooking back to wonderful student years, with big dreams and  great  opportunities ahead of me!

Now is my chance to give back to Silene!

Always remember that over 20 years you will be more disappointed about what you did not do than for what you did. And if you do not now try to accomplish more, you might never know what you’re capabilities.

Wat ek in my termyn wil bereik:
