Town Experience

Nestled along the banks of the Eerste River and at the foot of the Stellenbosch Mountain, the town lies in the heart of the Western Cape winelands. Stellenbosch, or the Eikestad (City of Oaks) as it is also known thanks to the many oak trees lining the streets of the town, offers students, residents and visitors an abundance of unforgettable experiences to choose from. From hiking or biking in the surrounding mountains, or visiting one of the many museums and art galleries, to enjoying a cup of coffee at a street café or taking a leisurely stroll in Stellenbosch University’s beautiful Botanical Garden – the town offers something for everyone.

The scenic Stellenbosch Wine Route will take you on a wine tasting experience of some of the best wines South Africa has to offer. The town, with its many historic buildings, promises students a vibrant social life and the opportunity to experience its cosmopolitan street culture.

Only a 50-minute drive away, the city of Cape Town offers experiences and once-in-a-lifetime adventures such as visiting South African art and heritage museums, hiking up Table Mountain (one of the New SevenWonders of Nature), going shark cage diving and seeing the Noon Gun being fired – to name but a few of the city’s charming amenities.
