In January 2017, South Africa and Belgium signed a Science and Technology Agreement to facilitate and strengthen human capital development and research partnerships between South African and Belgian scientists. The South African National Research Foundation (NRF) and the Belgian Federal Science Policy Office (BELSPO), as the implementing Agencies of this Agreement, are now announcing the first joint call for supporting joint networking research activities in Marine and Space Sciences between South African and Belgian young and emerging researchers.
From the South African side, this call is open to young emerging researchers (researchers not older than 45 years at the time of application), residing in South Africa, and affiliated with a recognised higher education or research institution such as a university, university of technology or science council. The South African PI (Principal Investigator) must be in possession of a PhD (received within the past 7 years). All South African applications must be submitted through an online application process to the NRF at https://nrfsubmission.nrf.ac.za. A detailed call document is attached.
