The Antarctic Legacy of South Africa’s online archive success depends on the material provided to us by previous overwintering members, take-over personnel, ship personnel, scientists – every single person that boarded some ship going down south into the Antarctic waters.
Today I would like to thank Yvonne Verster, daughter of Jan Nagel who was a team member of the 19th Marion Island Overwintering Team (1962).
Yvonne sent us a very valuable photo of M19 together with Oubaas (a Southern African Rhodesian ridgeback breed that was a companion for the Marion teams during the sixties).
I would herewith like to encourage anyone with photos and documents to contact me at antarcticlegacy@sun.ac.za – let’s all create an Antarctic Legacy!
