We are proud to share that Dana Jellin has been awarded her Master’s degree in Philosophy with distinction, specializing in Digital Curation. Her research reflects both academic excellence and commitment to preserving South Africa’s polar heritage.
Dana’s thesis, titled “Digitisation of Cultural Heritage: The Case of the Antarctic Legacy of South Africa”, focused on the processes and challenges involved in the digital preservation of cultural material. Her work explored the specific approaches used by the Antarctic Legacy of South Africa (ALSA), shedding light on the practical and theoretical aspects of digitising unique and historically valuable collections.
We are also pleased to announce that Dana has joined the ALSA team as an Assistant Digital Archivist, where she now contributes her expertise to the ongoing curation and digitisation of archival material. Her academic background, combined with a passion for cultural heritage, positions her as a valuable asset in ensuring the accessibility and longevity of ALSA’s growing digital archive.
