The 2022 Election Season has arrived!

If you would like to run for a position on the TAAC, this is the place to be!
The following positions are available on the 2023 TAAC Committee:

Role Descriptions

Class Representative

The mandate of a class representative is to represent the academic interests of his/her class. 

He/she provides the collective voice for the students in his/her class.

What does a class representative do? 
  • Email lecturers about issues with lectures or content on SUNLearn.
  • Email module chairs about study guides and timetable matters as well as test and examination concerns. 
  • Speak to the TAAC programme representative when matters need to be escalated higher to either the TAAC chairperson or the undergraduate programme coordinator.
  • Provide representation for the class on the TAAC and at meetings scheduled by lecturers, module chairs or undergraduate programme coordinators.
  • Work in the best interests of the class.
How does the election of a class representative work?

Class representatives are elected in August or September of every year.

First years are elected in February of every year. 

The outgoing class representative will facilitate the elections within the class, overseen by the TAAC Chairperson and Vice Chairperson.

Nominations will occur over a few weeks, via a Google Form.

Students within the class can nominate other students, with their permission, or can nominate themselves for the role of class representative.

Voting will take place over another few weeks, with the results announced at the end of that period. 

Vice Class Representative

The mandate of a vice class representative is to support the class representative in the representation of the academic interests of his/her class. 

He/she provides the collective voice for the students in his/her class.

This position is only available for final year classes in 2023.

What does a vice class representative do?
  • Compose Google/Microsoft forms for the purpose of obtaining a class vote/consensus on an academic matter when so needed.
  • Organise and maintain the class Google Drive, if deemed necessary by the class representative.
  • Compose Google/Microsoft forms for the purpose of electing clinical rotation representatives, if deemed necessary by the class representative.
  • Providing administrative support to the class representative.
  • Providing another means of communication between the class and the class representative. 
How does the election of a vice class representative work?

Administration Officer

The Administration Officer is the secretary of the TAAC.

The mandate of the Administration Officer is to support the chairperson and vice chairperson in an administrative capacity as well as keep track of dates and deadlines for the committee.

What does the Administration Officer do?
  • Organise the monthly committee meetings
  • Agenda and minutes for meetings
  • Set up and monitor the committee calendar

How does the selection of Administration Officer work?

A nomination process will occur via Microsoft forms.

Any undergraduate student registered at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences can apply for the position.

Nominees will have an interview with the TAAC chairperson and vice chairperson.

After the interview, the applicants will be notified of the success or failure of their application, by the TAAC chairperson.

Co-Curriculum Student Coordinator

The Co-Curriculum Student Coordinator is responsible for the management of the TAAC Student Leadership Development Module. 

He/she is the point of contact in the TAAC for the Co-Curriculum Office.

What does the Co-Curriculum Student Coordinator do?
  • Organise the SUNLearn page for the co-curriculum
  • Organise the training session and workshops for the co-curriculum
  • Organise the tasks of the co-curriculum
  • Organise the documentation needed for submission for accreditation
