Student Wellness

Student wellness and development fall within the ambit of the Centre for Student Counselling and Development (CSCD). To enhance service delivery to students, the CSCD has offices at Tygerberg Campus. The CSCD comprises five units, which each delivers an autonomous, professional and client-centred service:

Support is routinely rendered to students in line with the core functions of the CSCD which include: psychotherapy, social work support services, psychiatric services, developmental work sessions, career development, academic development, psychometric assessment and 24-hour Emergency Service in collaboration with ER24. Other services include assisting with the Work-Study Programme and Food assistance for those in need.

WORK-STUDY PROGRAMME

The Work-Study Programme allows students to gain work experience while studying. These students earn a minimal income per month to assist with their financial need. To find out more about the Work-Study Programme, contact Lizzie Witbooi at lgwitbooi@sun.ac.za.

FOOD ASSISTANCE

We realise many students face challenges around access to food. The PTSS Unit has food assistance programmes in place to assist you if you need support.

If you would like to access food assistance e-mail supportus@sun.ac.za or phone 021 938 9590.
