The Tygerberg Student Representative Council is the highest policy-making and representative student body at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The core functions of the TSRC are to act in the best interest of the students by actively promoting the students’ rights highlighted in the bill of rights of our constitution and represent the students at different levels of the Faculty and the University.

What is the function of the TSR?
The function of the TSRC includes representing the Tygerberg students in the university management structures, facilitating initiatives or projects that benefit the students and always acting in the best interests of the students.
Is there membership/subscription fee to be a part of the TSR?
Although the council itself, which consists of 22 members, who are either elected or appointed; each and every TygerMatie student automatically has access to the TSRC, its services and events. The structure exists with the purpose of serving the students and as such no subscription or membership is needed, the TSRC is there for you owing to the mere fact that you are a Tygerberg-based Stellenbosch University student.
When I am enrolled at the University as a first year, am I eligible to run for the TSR?
Yes, you may run for a position on the TSRC as early as September of your first year as our leadership term stretches from September to September. If you wish to get involved before that we encourage you to keep a look out for committee applications as some TSRC portfolios open applications for a committee to help them in running the portfolio and organizing events.
