Bernard Wessels obtained his BA (Humanities) (cum laude), BA (Hons) (Afrikaans and Dutch) (cum laude) and his LLB (cum laude) from the University of Stellenbosch. He completed his articles of clerkship at Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs Inc in 2010 and was admitted as an attorney of the Supreme Court of South Africa in Cape Town in 2010. In 2012 he joined the Law Faculty as a lecturer. He currently teaches Private Law 373 (law of delict) and is also involved in the LLM in Comparative Private Law. In 2014 he obtained his BCL degree (first) from the University of Oxford (University College) and in 2018 he obtained his LLD degree from the University of Stellenbosch. The title of the dissertation was: ‘Developing the South African law of delict the creation of a statutory compensation fund for crime victims’.

Bernard Wessels het ʼn BA (Geesteswetenskappe) (cum laude), BA (Hons) (Afrikaans en Nederlands) (cum laude) asook sy LLB (cum laude) grade aan die Universiteit van Stellenbosch verwerf. Hy het sy klerkskap by Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs Inc in 2010 voltooi en is daarna as ʼn prokureur van die Hooggeregshof van Suid-Afrika in Kaapstad toegelaat. In 2012 is hy as ʼn dosent by die Fakulteit Regsgeleerdheid aangestel. Hy doseer tans Privaatreg 373 (deliktereg) en is ook betrokke by die LLM-module in Regsvergelykende Privaatreg. In 2014 het hy sy BCL-graad (met onderskeiding) aan die Universiteit van Oxford (University College) ontvang en in 2018 verwerf hy sy LLD-graad aan die Universiteit van Stellenbosch. Die onderwerp van sy proefskrif was “Developing the South African law of delict: The creation of a statutory compensation fund for crime victims”.
