Bernard Wessels verwerf sy BA (Geesteswetenskappe) (cum laude), BA (Hons) (Afrikaans en Nederlands) (cum laude) asook sy LLB (cum laude) aan die Universiteit van Stellenbosch. Hy het sy leerklerkskap by Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs Inc in 2010 voltooi en is toegelaat as prokureur van die Hooggeregshof van Suid-Afrika in Kaapstad in 2010. In 2012 sluit hy by die Fakulteit aan as lektor. Hy doseer tans Privaatreg 373 (deliktereg) en is ook betrokke by die onderrig van die gedoseerde LLM-kursus (spesifiek by die module wat fokus op die privaatreg in regsvergelykende perspektief.) Sy navorsingsfokus is die deliktereg met ‘n spesiale belangstelling in die wisselwerking tussen die kontraktereg en die deliktereg asook regsgeskiedenis. In 2014 verwerf hy sy BCL-graad (met onderskeiding) aan die Universiteit van Oxford (University College) en in 2018 verwerf hy sy LLD grad aan die Universiteit van Stellenbosch.  Bernard Wessels obtained his BA (Humanities) (cum laude), BA (Hons) (Afrikaans and Dutch) (cum laude) and his LLB (cum laude) from the University of Stellenbosch. He completed his articles of clerkship at Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs Inc in 2010 and was admitted as an attorney of the Supreme Court of South Africa in Cape Town in 2010. In 2012 he joined the Law Faculty as a lecturer. He currently teaches Private Law 373 (law of delict) and is also involved in the teaching of the LLM course (specifically the module focusing on private law from a comparative perspective.) His research focus is the law of delict with a special interest in the relationship between contract law and the law of delict as well as legal history. In 2014 he obtained his BCL degree (first) from the University of Oxford (University College) and in 2018 he obtained his LLD degree from the University of Stellenbosch.
