Desmond Tutu TB Centre - Every breath counts

The DTTC HPTN 084 team based at the DTTC Kuilsrivier location took time out today to celebrate World AIDS Day. HPTN 084 has shown intramuscular cabotegravir (IM CAB) to be highly effective in preventing HIV in women aged 18 to 45. Excitingly IM CAB is now becoming available as standard care in high burden countries and will be a powerful component of the toolbox of interventions for the fight against HIV/AIDS going forward.

With expertise in diagnostics, epidemiology and the prevention and treatment of TB, this focus area strives to continually generate ground breaking data on children.

Operational Research

The health systems and operational research area focuses on identifying gaps in health programme quality and looks at innovative ways to address these gaps.

HIV Prevention Research

This research area focuses on clinical and community randomized trials to gain scientific knowledge to further the field of HIV prevention.
