Well-known author, Ian Sinclair supports the Antarctic Legacy of South Africa

The Antarctic Legacy of South Africa thanks Ian Sinclair, well-known author of many African bird books and Ornithologist from September 1978 to May 1979 on Marion’s 35th Overwintering Team for recently donating a portable slide-sorting light table to the project.

The ALSA team has now started sorting three important SANAP slide collections for scanning to the archive, (Ian’s own, that of the late Jim Enticott, both held by the FitzPatrick Institute at the University of Cape Town, and my own).

Ian has also found for ALSA the colour version of his team photo, shown here.  Far nicer than the BxW version currently mounted on the island, ALSA will ensure it is printed, captioned and taken to the island this April to replace the one framed inside the life ring.

Contributions such as from Ian are the lifeblood of ALSA and help to save South Africa’s Antarctic legacy for posterity and study.  Keep them coming!
