The staff of the Law Faculty recently participated in Heritage Day activities at the Faculty on 25 September 2019.
The theme was South African languages and Ms Nondu Phenyane and Ms Langa Maziya organised some fun educational activities for us. Here is the language quiz that the Faculty ‘competed’ in – we learnt about one another, as well as South African languages.
Why don’t you see how many questions you know the answer to:
1. Which section of the Constitution refers to the 11 official languages?
2. Which South African language is spoken both in South Africa and in Zimbabwe?
3. Which South African language is spoken in both South Africa and Mozambique?
4. Swati is spoken in South Africa and one other African country, name this country?
5. What are the four ethnic divisions?
6. From which language does Afrikaans originate?
7. How many languages are combined in the lyrics of the South African national anthem?
8. Sotho is spoken in South Africa and another African country, name this country?
9. Name the languages that belong to the Sotho ethnic group?
10. What was the late Nelson Mandela’s home language?
