SANAE 60 team member celebrating his birthday

Celebrating your birthday on Antarctica is always a special occasion.

Christopher Gray celebrated his birthday on 27 January, with team members and take-over personnel. Christopher is the South African National Space Agency (SANSA) VLF and RADAR Engineer of the 60th South African National Antarctic Expedition Station (SANAE IV) Overwintering team (2021).

Christopher has been keeping in touch, sharing his experience thus far with family and friends. See some of his images below.

Make sure to keep an eye on his collection (link) on the Antarctic Legacy of South Africa Archive for more images.

SANAE 60 departed late evening of 25 December 2020 and will return to Cape Town in February 2022. We look forward hearing more stories and receiving more material from Christopher.
