We are happy to announce the new AoB PLANTS Special Issue on Evolutionary Dynamics of Tree Invasions. The special issue is the outcome of a workshop which was held at Stellenbosch University in November 2015 and aimed to synthesize and increase our current knowledge on the evolutionary processes underlying tree invasions worldwide. The workshop was organized by two members of the Le Roux Lab, Prof Jaco Le Roux and Dr Heidi Hirsch, and the director of the Centre for Invasion Biology (C·I·B), Prof Dave Richardson.
This special issue compiles the factors that promote and mitigate the invasion success of exotic tree species worldwide and shows that incorporating evolutionary concepts is crucial for understanding the complex drivers of tree invasions and to improve management.
