Field guide by C·I·B Core Team Member describes life in freshwater
C·I·B Core Team Member, Charles Griffiths, is among the authors of a new illustrated field guide to aquatic life in the wider southern African region. The book titled, Freshwater Life, spans all aquatic life forms, from the large and eye-catching vertebrates, through insects, molluscs, invertebrates, to aquatic plants and microscopic algae. It further includes entries about major aquatic alien plants and animals.
The book includes information on more than 1,000 freshwater organisms. Descriptions and notes on the ecology of each species are accompanied by photographs and distribution maps. This easy-to-use guide will prove invaluable to outdoor enthusiasts, students and conservationists.
Charles Griffiths is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and a Core Team Member of the DST-NRF Centre of Excellence for Invasion Biology (C·I·B) at the Stellenbosch University (SU). He has participated in the discovery of over 100 new species and has published over 170 scientific papers and a number of best-selling field guides.
